Apple’s HomeView Smart Home Hub Could Launch in November

Apple’s long-awaited smart home hub may finally have a name. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming device will reportedly be called HomeView and could debut at Apple’s “Welcome home” event, as the company prepares to expand its smart home ecosystem.

The device is expected to act as a central control point for Apple’s connected home products, allowing users to manage compatible accessories and interact with Siri through a dedicated display. Bloomberg’s report suggests Apple is targeting a mid-November release, several weeks after other anticipated hardware updates.

Apple HomeView Will Focus on Siri and Smart Home Control

Unlike an iPad, HomeView is reportedly being designed primarily as a smart home control screen rather than a general-purpose tablet. Its name is said to reflect that approach, with the display serving as a visual companion to Siri and voice commands.

The hub is expected to work alongside Apple’s existing smart home products, including the HomePod mini. Users could rely on it to control compatible devices, access home information, and manage everyday smart home tasks without needing to pick up an iPhone or iPad.

Apple is reportedly planning two designs: a countertop model with a metal speaker base and a wall-mounted version. The countertop device is expected to come in Space Gray, silver, starlight, and pink, while the wall-mounted model may be limited to Space Gray and silver.

HomeView May Have Limited App Support

HomeView reportedly will not offer the full app experience available on an iPhone or iPad. According to Bloomberg, the device will support a limited selection of Apple apps and will not include access to the App Store.

Instead, Apple appears to be positioning the hub around its own smart home platform and compatible third-party accessories. Users are expected to manage supported devices through Siri, the Apple Home app, and other Apple hardware.

This approach could make HomeView easier to use as a dedicated household control panel, although its usefulness will depend on the devices and features Apple ultimately supports.

Apple Is Expanding Its Smart Home Accessory Ecosystem

The reported launch is part of a broader effort to strengthen Apple’s presence in the smart home market. Bloomberg says Apple has been working with LG on products such as doorbells, thermostats, and outdoor security cameras.

Apple is also reportedly collaborating with Schneider Electric on smart home devices intended for European markets. These accessories are expected to be grouped under an “Apple Home Collection” branding strategy.

If the plans materialize, the partnerships could help Apple expand beyond its own hardware and give customers more options for building a connected home around Apple’s software and services. However, the range of products, compatibility details, and release dates have not been fully confirmed.

HomePod Mini and Apple TV Updates Could Arrive First

HomeView is not the only smart home-related product reportedly in development at Apple. Bloomberg also expects an updated HomePod mini featuring the S10 chip and a new Apple TV model powered by the A19 chip.

Those products are reportedly scheduled to begin shipping on October 30, while HomeView could follow in mid-November. The LG-developed accessories may arrive later, potentially toward the end of the year.

Apple has not publicly confirmed the reported HomeView name, specifications, or release schedule. The details should therefore be treated as reports rather than official product announcements.

What HomeView Could Mean for Apple’s Smart Home Strategy

A dedicated smart home display could give Apple a more visible presence in rooms where users manage lighting, climate, security, and other connected devices. It would also give Siri a more central role in everyday household interactions.

Apple’s smart home ecosystem connects compatible accessories through the Home app, giving users a central place to manage supported devices and home automations.

The bigger question is whether Apple can make HomeView useful enough to justify adding another device to an already connected home. Its success may depend on Siri’s capabilities, support for third-party accessories, and how smoothly it integrates with the Apple products people already own.

For now, HomeView remains an unconfirmed product reported by Bloomberg. If the expected launch takes place, it could mark an important step in Apple’s effort to make its smart home ecosystem more cohesive.
